Bounced all over the place tonight, jumping from one love to another. There are some classics you know and love, some treats you might not have heard in a minute, and some new jams that might just be your new favorite song.

Notes, Observations, Songs, etc…
They released the soundtrack to Jesse Peretz‘s film FIRST LOVE, LAST RITES that Shudder to Think put together with guest vocalists ranging from Liz Phair to Robin Zander of Cheap Trick to Billy Corgan (who is here on Substack:
) and so many other greats. Easily the best track on the whole record is the Jeff Buckley collaboration, “I Want Someone Badly.” When I chatted with Craig on the podcast last year, I asked if he had access to Jeff’s isolated vocals. He said he didn’t and that he wished he had all of the masters to be able to slightly clean up the mix. And now it’s out on vinyl a year later. So I’m going to pretend that I made that happen.Going into my last full block, I threw on the Illuminati Hotties track, “Pool Hopping” in honor of their BANGER of a Tiny Desk performance. Sarah wrote about the experience on her Substack and capped it off by asking the readers to “…drop a comment and let me know what you’re listening to.” And I confessed to how much I’ve been vibing with everything I’ve heard so far off of the upcoming Aly & AJ record, Silver Deliverer, to which she replied… “i stan aly & aj!!!!” So, in honor of that, I played the most “Nate” back to back of awesomeness.
Two Kevin Smith nods in tonight’s show. First, an all time favorite of mine. “Susanne” by Weezer, featured on the soundtrack to Kevin’s film MALLRATS. That song has filled me with joy for almost 30 years now, and even tonight all this time later, still left me with a big ol’ smile on my face. Second, the recently released debut single “Star” from the band cinnamon who, for those of you who may not know, is fronted by Kevin’s daughter (and Beardless D*ckless Me cohost) Harley Quinn Smith! Harley was in an incredible band called The Tenth, and they rocked supreme, and it appears with the new act, she’s going to keep said rocking supreme going.
Always love getting to play pal and former podcast guest John Faye on the show! Super excited for the upcoming IKE reunion at Milkboy coming up in May on the 17th for the Asian American Pie II show in celebration of AAPI Heritage Month. Ticket still available for that one in you are in the Philly area!
Ok. I’ve said enough. I’ll be back on the air on May 5th, so set your calendar, schedule yourself a reminder and come join me for the tunes. Maybe for the next show, I’ll try out a livestream here and see if there’s any interest in that.
‘Til then!
